Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek has announced a new processor for affordable MediaTek Helio G100 smartphones without too much hype, posting its specifications on its official website.
The MediaTek Helio G100 chip, which is manufactured using a 6nm process technology at TSMC facilities, includes two Arm Cortex-A76 cores with a frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 2.0 GHz, as well as Mali-G57 MC2 graphics.
The MediaTek Helio G100 is manufactured using TSMC’s advanced 6nm (N6) chip manufacturing process, which significantly improves energy efficiency. This innovation provides device manufacturers with new opportunities to develop gaming smartphones with unprecedented battery life.
In addition, the Helio G100 single-chip system has a proprietary LTE modem (Cat-13 DL), a GPS receiver with support for all global navigation systems, and wireless Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 modules.
The Helio G100 supports displays with a resolution of up to 2520 x 1080 pixels and a frame rate of up to 120 Hz, LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 2.2 flash drives and 200-megapixel cameras.
The MediaTek Helio G100 boasts a high-performance octa-core processor, including two Arm Cortex-A76 processors, paired with a powerful Arm Mali G57 class GPU.
The first smartphones based on the new MediaTek Helio G100 processor should appear on the market in the near future, but who it will be is still unknown.
