However, the Android System SafetyCore application, released on January 22, 2025, was installed on Android devices, including Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones, without any warnings.
Many users simply did not notice it, some did not pay attention, and some sounded the alarm, filling the Android System SafetyCore page on Google Play with negative reviews.
As it turned out, the Android System SafetyCore application scans all chats in Google Messages, an application that is used for SMS exchange on Android devices. Or maybe not just them.
Moreover, Google itself clarified that the Android SafetyCore System does monitor chats, but not for the purpose of monitoring user correspondence, but for the sake of protecting them from obscene content. In what way!
At the same time, Google claims that no one sees the content of the correspondence, and all the actions to identify obscene images and hide them are performed by a modern neural network, and your delicate pictures will not fall into the hands of anyone.
How do I remove Android System SafetyCore?
To date, there is no information about any case of data leakage from the Android SafetyCore System, but it is impossible to confirm the complete safety of its operation – you either have to rely on Google’s words or on the opinion of panicked users who, moreover, seal the webcam on the laptop, while leaving the front of the smartphone open.
In any case, it is quite easy to remove the Android System SafetyCore service on your Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco – the application can be “demolished” using standard methods.
To do this, go to Settings – Applications, start typing the name Android System SafetyCore in the search bar and when it appears, go to the page with information about the program, where there is a Delete button at the bottom.
If Android System SafetyCore is not in the list of applications on your device, then it is not here, but to act for sure, find it on Google Play and click Delete, if it is present there.
