Blackmagic Design recently announced the Blackmagic Camera app for Android devices, which uses the same advanced image processing algorithms as Blackmagic digital film cameras.
The Blackmagic Camera app provides users with a set of professional tools, as well as supports Blackmagic Cloud storage, which, among other things, provides collaboration with editors and colorists around the world.
Initially, the Blackmagic Camera app was only available for a number of Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy models, and now the list of compatible devices has expanded – OnePlus 11 and OnePlus 12, as well as Xiaomi devices represented by Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14 models, have been added to it.
The application offers a number of advanced post-processing tools – for example, users can now apply noise reduction and image sharpening directly during recording, as well as use 3D LUT to precisely control the color reproduction of the footage.
These features, traditionally associated with professional editing software, are now available in real time on compatible Xiaomi devices with the Blackmagic Camera app installed.
One of the most interesting innovations in the new version of the Blackmagic Camera is the continuous focus control, which allows users to smoothly move the focus point between three preset positions during shooting.
In addition, the app offers full control over important shooting parameters such as frame rate, shutter angle, white balance and ISO, and the ability to darken the screen during recording, allowing users of Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14 to maximize the hardware capabilities of their devices.
