The world’s leading chipmakers Qualcomm and MediaTek, which produce processors for smartphones, are preparing for the fall premiere of their new flagship chipsets Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and Dimensity 9500, respectively, but, apparently, MediaTek will outpace Qualcomm with the release of its top-end chip.
It was previously reported that the Snapdragon Tech Summit 2025 event, which will host the official announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 single-chip system, will be held in Hawaii from September 23 to 25.
At the same time, yesterday, the well-known network informant Digital Chat Station said on his Weibo page that MediaTek would hold a presentation of the Dimensity 9500 earlier than the announcement of the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2.
However, the insider did not name a specific date, but it can be assumed that we are talking about the first half of September.
It turns out that some flagship Android smartphones will be on sale for only 9-10 months before their successors with new chips appear. How buyers will react to such a rapid generational change is still an open question.
It is also worth noting here that both the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and the Dimensity 9500 will be produced using the third-generation 3nm process technology at Taiwan’s TSMC factories, which implies minimal problems with overheating of devices running on these processors.
