In particular, large-scale research conducted in February 2025 showed that about 80% of users who turn on the dark theme increase the brightness of the screen at the same time. This is because light text on a dark background looks less contrasting, which makes surfing the Web and reading text more difficult in low light conditions.
As a result, Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco owners noticeably increase the brightness of their device’s display, and as a result, power consumption is still reduced when dark mode is activated (details), but under certain scenarios it may be even greater than in light mode.
Is there any point in dark mode?
In any case, the inclusion of a dark interface theme on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices has its advantages.:
- Reducing energy consumption depending on the set brightness level – at 100% or auto brightness, it will be almost invisible, and at brightness of the order of 40-50%, the effect will be noticeable.

What is the result?
Dark mode on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices with OLED displays is a convenient and, one might say, stylish interface display option. However, activating it under normal scenarios does not significantly increase autonomy, but it does allow you to preserve your eyesight.
