Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek has unveiled a fairly powerful single-chip MediaTek Dimensity 1200 system with support for 5G networks, designed for sub-flagship and gaming devices.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset includes one Arm Cortex-A78 core with a clock frequency of up to 3.0 GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.6 GHz, as well as a quartet of Cortex-A55 cores operating at 2.0 GHz.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 delivers a new wave of exceptional 5G smartphones with best-in-class artificial intelligence, camera, and multimedia that deliver incredible experiences.
Also on board the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 are a proprietary 5G modem, an Arm Mali-G77 MP9 graphics controller, wireless Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 modules, and a GPS receiver with support for all global navigation systems.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 supports displays with a resolution of up to 2520 x 1080 pixels and a frame rate of up to 168 Hz, LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 flash drives, as well as 200-megapixel cameras.
According to MediaTek, the first smartphones based on the Dimensity 1200 processor will appear on the market at the end of the first or beginning of the second quarter, and the first devices from Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Realme will receive them.
