The Corning company, known for its protective glasses of the Glass Glass line for smartphones, presented its new development in the form of Gorilla Glass Ceramic glass.
According to the manufacturer, Gorilla Glass Ceramic will increase the resistance of mobile devices to falls and reduce the number of cracks on displays without compromising image clarity.
The new glass, as the name implies, is based on ceramic materials designed to significantly increase its impact resistance, and in this indicator Gorilla Glass Ceramic is significantly superior to traditional aluminosilicate glasses.
According to Corning, the latest Gorilla Glass Ceramic glass is capable of withstanding up to 10 consecutive falls from a height of one meter on an asphalt surface.

However, this is not the most durable option available in the Corning range. In particular, Gorilla Glass Armor 2 can withstand falls from a height of 2.2 meters on a concrete surface. The difference matters — concrete usually absorbs less impact than asphalt, which makes Armor 2 a more durable choice.
At the moment, Gorilla Glass Ceramic is positioned as a mid—range alternative – more durable than standard aluminosilicate glass, but not up to the Armor 2 level.
