I think everyone is fed up with reviews of the Redmi A3 (review) with the Android Go operating system on board, where everything is rosy. But actually, not at all.
There are two memory configurations – 4/128 GB and 3/64 GB. For those who have worked on phones with 0.5-2 GB RAM, this phone will seem like a miracle. However, if you had a phone with at least three gigs of RAM, then you miscalculated the choice of phone.
Compared to any phone that has three gigs of RAM, this device is something worse, provided that the previous phone had official firmware.
Due to the original 15th android, everything works much worse for its four gigs. Don’t look at the 3/64 GB Redmi A3 at all, it will be like with two gigabytes of RAM.
If you flash your phone to at least android 12-13, then it will stop lagging almost completely, there is nothing to say about 12-11 at all. Officially, there is only android 14-15 for Redmi A3, there is no less.
It’s worth mentioning that because of Android Go, things like the MIUI desktop, the Security app, mi notes, floating windows, the built-in xiaomi account, the split curtain, themes that change the status bar, desktop widgets, etc. will have to be completely forgotten.
Let me mention that all Xiaomi apps that you won’t find directly on the play store don’t even have to try to install on your phone, they’re not compatible.
In addition to the applications that are system-based for other Xiaomi, you will not be able to install many more applications, as they are also incompatible with your brand-new phone.
Of the amenities, I can only name the fingerprint scanner, which not only exists, it is even located on the side, which makes it easier to unlock. There are only a couple of things left from Xiaomi in the firmware: such as the Xiaomi curtain, only in the old style, and applications from Xiaomi, which are offered by the play market as basic. Oh, and the name of the phone in the settings. That’s all.
I can’t say any flattering things about the camera of the phone itself – it doesn’t shoot clearly, only 8 megapixels are sewn into it, and you can’t arrange a photo shoot. There are generally 5 on the front, so at least take a selfie with the back of the phone.
Unlike the beggarly ultra-budget ones, there are not two microphones, but one. There is also one speaker, dual with a conversational one (that is, from above, you can’t listen to a voice message in the usual way), and everyone around you will listen to what you are talking about with the subscriber.
The Minijack connector will be on top, which is not surprising for such a dialer. The charge lasts a long time, even for gamers, but the charging here is the usual, fast 2.0 (if that’s the name, not the quality of speed).
When connected to a 5 Hz Wi-Fi, the phone starts lagging more, but think for yourself what is more important to you – file downloads, or phone performance.
An NFC module was promised, but in fact, nothing like that. I can’t say anything specifically about Bluetooth, I haven’t used it at all, except for the audio connection, but in this case, the sound is absolutely clear, don’t worry.
Updates for Bluetooth are released periodically, so don’t worry about the novelty. You won’t see any pixelation on the screen, no matter how hard you try, this phone isn’t that ancient.
The protection of the phone is standard, do not put it in the water, etc. The cover is glass, there is a huge glass disk at the back for, in fact, one camera. There is a second module for portrait photography, and a good single white flashlight.
All these gadgets will break pretty quickly if you don’t take care of the phone. I personally didn’t worry, and I bought an armored case, no matter how many times I fell, nothing but the protective glass for the screen didn’t break.
