For several months now, Xiaomi developers have been promising to introduce new camera “chips” into HyperOS 2 firmware, including AI add-ons and the function of removing glare or reflections from images, and, it should be noted, such functionality is already appearing in fresh HyperOS 2 builds for a number of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco models.
However, there is one caveat here – these functions are not loaded and activated automatically on all Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco models, and a number of simple actions are required to enable them in the Camera application.
Enabling plug-ins for Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco cameras
To find out which plug-ins are available for your smartphone’s camera and activate them, open any photo in the Gallery and click edit at the bottom (pencil icon).
Then click on the three vertical dots in the lower right corner and select the only available Plug-in Management item, after which all possible plug-ins and already installed ones will be shown.
After they are activated, the corresponding items will appear in the camera settings. For example, after activating the Remove Reflection plugin, you can open the desired photo, click on the “pencil” at the bottom, select in the lowest AI menu, where the Remove Reflection button now appears.
Note that the list of available plug-ins for Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco cameras depends on the smartphone model and the installed HyperOS 2 firmware. For example, it differs even for Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 14T with current HyperOS updates on board, although these are very similar devices.:
