The owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco are constantly asking how to connect their smartphone to a computer in modem mode and provide the PC with Network access via a mobile connection.
That is, the question is how to distribute traffic from a smartphone to a computer via cable, which can be useful in cases where the PC is not equipped with a Wi-Fi module, and the Internet is needed “here and now”.
In fact, there is nothing complicated here, the only thing is that in the HyperOS system settings on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices, the necessary menu item is somewhat illogically located and not everyone can find it at once.
First of all, using a cable, we connect your Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco to the computer, then on the smartphone we go to Settings – Other connection methods – Wi-Fi access point, where we find and activate the USB modem switch.
That’s all, actually – now your computer has access to the Network via a smartphone. However, it is still unclear why the developers put the USB modem mode in the Wi-Fi Hotspot section.
