More and more Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones are receiving the latest chipsets that include support for fifth-generation networks, but as we know, 5G networks have not yet been put into commercial operation in Russia and the CIS, so this communication standard simply does not work here.

However, the HyperOS 2 software platform on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices equipped with single-chip 5G systems is still trying to find fifth-generation networks and connect to them, which quite logically leads to excessive battery consumption.

One of the elements that consumes the most battery power in our Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco is the 5G connection, which leads to an increase in power consumption by up to 11%.

To disable the constant HyperOS 2 system requests to search for 5G networks on your Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco, you need to follow a number of simple steps:

  • Go to SettingsMobile Networks
  • Here we go into each SIM card, click on the Preferred network type, where we select Preferably 4G (LTE)

Thanks to these actions, we will ensure that requests to connect to 5G networks will not consume excess battery power on your smartphone.

We definitely recommend enabling this setting on any Xiaomi, Redmi, or Poco device in regions without 5G coverage, unless, of course, you really want to maximize your device’s autonomy.

P.S. Other instructions on configuring the HyperOS software platform and using its features on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices are available on our website in this section.
