Increasingly, we are being contacted by users who are interested in whether their Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco smartphone supports bypass charging (also known as bypass charging or bypass charge), and in this article we will look at what bypass charging is and whether Xiaomi devices support it.

What is bypass charging?

In fact, bypass charging is a device mode of operation in which the power supply is bypassed by the battery when it is connected to the mains. That is, energy is supplied not to the battery, but directly to the system board.

As a result, bypass charging does not charge the device, but powers it “from the outlet”, which looks like a rather strange solution and at first glance it is not entirely clear what the use of this is.

What is bypass charging for?

Bypassing the battery when connecting a smartphone or tablet to the charging unit increases the level of security, allowing you to use the device and, for example, play mobile games, which is highly discouraged during the normal charging process.

During normal charging and active use of the device, its battery gets very hot, which leads to its accelerated degradation, and bypassing the battery when connected to a power source eliminates these factors.

Which Xiaomi smartphones support bypass charging?

Bypass charging technology is not a standard feature of the Android operating system and its implementation lies entirely on the shoulders of manufacturers.

Brands such as Asus, Infinix, Lenovo, Nubia, Realme, Samsung, Tecno and Black Shark have already succeeded in this direction by providing their gaming smartphones with the bypass charge function.

The last manufacturer in this list, Black Shark, which can be formally attributed to Xiaomi, introduced bypass charging in the Black Shark 4 and Black Shark 5 models, but devices released specifically under the Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco brands have not yet received such an option.

It is quite possible that this technology is implemented in the latest Xiaomi 15, Redmi K80, Poco X7 and future Poco F7 series, but we could not find official information about this. If you have any information about this, please share it in the comments.

Conclusion

Bypass charging technology is a very important stage in the development of mobile technology, especially aimed at avid gamers. It allows you to maintain the normal temperature of the battery, which leads to an increased service life and more stable operation of the device itself.

Bypass technology is currently only available in some gaming smartphones, but it can be assumed that over time manufacturers will begin to use it more widely, offering these advantages in other devices.
