Today, the product manager of the Xiaomi camera department with the nickname @Bao_小李 revealed the following on his page on the Chinese social network Weibo:
I think a lot of people have discovered a little surprise in the form of Xiaomi 15 Ultra camera sound effects and we have decided to release new shutter sound effects for many Xiaomi and Redmi devices.

In particular, new sound effects will appear in the Camera apps on the following devices:
The first wave (mid—May – mid-June)
- Xiaomi 15 Series
- Xiaomi 14 Series
- Xiaomi Mix Fold 4
- Xiaomi Mix Flip
- Redmi K80 Series
- Redmi K70 Series
- Redmi Note 14 Series
- Redmi Turbo 4
Second wave (mid—June – end of July)
- Xiaomi 13 Series
- Xiaomi 12S Series
- Xiaomi Mix Fold 3
- Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro
- Redmi K60 Series
- Redmi Note 13 Series
- Redmi Turbo 3
Apparently, we are talking only about Chinese smartphone models, and there is no clarity yet when Leica sounds will appear in global HyperOS 2 builds, if at all.

In any case, the new set of sound effects offers four options, each of which is taken from historic Leica cameras.:
- Mechanical: Adapted from the Leica M6, this option (used by 18.8% of photographers) mimics the real shutter sound of a classic rangefinder camera. At shutter speeds of more than 0.4 seconds, you will hear the emulated mechanical noise of the motor, giving a retro feel.
- Classic: according to the characteristic click of the Leica M9 (the most preferred by 16% of users), this option has a short fixed duration to simulate the sounds of mechanical processing.
- By default: simulates the legendary Leica M3 shutter click, which is now preferred by 15% of photographers using Xiaomi devices.
- Modern: simulates the shutter noise of the Leica M10 camera, which 14% of users chose for its balanced sound signature.
