Back in July of this year, it became known that the Taiwanese company MediaTek is preparing for the premiere of a new single-chip MediaTek Dimensity 8400 system, which is internally labeled MT6899 and is designed for smartphones of the sub-flagship level.
Moreover, the MT6899 chipset was later spotted in MediaTek’s July product safety bulletin, indicating that it was being actively tested by MediaTek engineers at the time.
In addition, yesterday the Gizmochina resource team discovered the upcoming Dimensity 8400 in the source code of Xiaomi’s HyperOS software. This means that in the near future we will see a Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco smartphone with a Dimensity 8400 processor on board.
Unfortunately, the characteristics of the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 chip, as well as the date of its official premiere, are unknown, but compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 8300 is expected to significantly increase the performance of computing cores and graphics, as well as improve the overall energy efficiency of the platform.
