Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek has announced a new flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9400 platform, which, unlike the 4nm Dimensity 9300, is based on TSMC‘s advanced 3nm process technology, which has enabled it to accommodate 28% more transistors and improved energy efficiency by a decent 40%.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC includes one super-powerful Arm Cortex-X925 core with a frequency of up to 3.626 GHz, three powerful Cortex-X4 cores with a frequency of up to 3.3 GHz, as well as a quartet of high-performance Cortex-A720 cores operating at frequencies up to 2.4 GHz.

The performance of the chip in single–core mode increased by 35%, and multi-core – by 28%, which is also achieved by doubling the L2 and L3 cache volumes relative to the Dimensity 9300.

The 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 MC12 controller was chosen as the graphics component of the Dimensity 9400 chipset, whose performance increased by 41% relative to its predecessor, the processing speed of the tracking increased by 40%, and power consumption was reduced by a serious 44%.

The latest NPU890 neural unit, which is eight times faster than its predecessor, is responsible for computing related to artificial intelligence.

In the well–known AnTuTu benchmark, the new MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip scores 2,848,998 “parrots” at room temperature, and in obscure laboratory conditions with lower temperatures it reaches 3,006,345 points – that is, MediaTek almost directly hints at tests in the freezer.

Also on board the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 single-chip system is the new Imagiq 1090 ISP, which records HDR videos at any focal length, captures videos in 8K@60fps format, and reduces power consumption when recording 4K@60fps videos by 14%.

The MiraVision 1090 display unit supports displays with a resolution up to 4K with a frame rate of up to 120 Hz or WQHD+ with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz. Memory support for LPDDR5X/T, UFS 4 + MCQ standards has been announced, and the wireless modem implements Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 protocols.

The first smartphones based on MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will be released in the coming weeks, and one of them will be one of the models of the Oppo Find X8 line.
