The flagship smartphones of 2024-2025 will be built on the latest single-chip Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 systems from American chipmaker Qualcomm and Dimensity 9400 from Taiwanese MediaTek, and today it became known that the latter will be presented on October 9th.
In the new Dimensity 9400 processor, MediaTek developers are expected to switch to the advanced 3nm N3E process from Taiwanese contract manufacturer TSMC for the first time. This promises up to 30% better energy efficiency compared to the Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 9300+.
As for the architecture, the future MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will receive one high-performance Arm Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.63 GHz, three Arm Cortex-X4 cores clocked at 2.80 GHz and four Arm Cortex-A725 cores running at 2.10 GHz.
However, the competition for MediaTek’s upcoming new product is very fierce. It is rumored that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 main cores will reach a peak clock speed of 4.32GHz, while Apple’s A18 series is expected to reach 4.04GHz.

As for the GPU, it is assumed to belong to the Immortalis G9xx series and is expected to provide 110 frames per second in the GFXBench Aztec Ruins test at 1440p resolution — 11.1% more than the previous generation, when this figure was 99 frames per second.
It is also worth noting that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will receive improved ray tracing at the hardware level, support for the promising LPDDR5X RAM standard, and the energy efficiency of the Dimensity 9400 will be significantly better than that of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (details).
By the way, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be presented at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 event, which will start operating on October 24, and the premiere of Xiaomi 15 series smartphones built on this platform is expected a little later.
