American chipmaker Qualcomm quietly launched a very interesting single-chip system named Qualcomm Snapdragon 860, which is manufactured using a 7nm process and is very similar to the Snapdragon 855+.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 includes one Arm Cortex-A76 core clocked at 2.96 GHZ, three Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.42 GHz, a quartet of Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.8 GHz, and the Adreno 640 graphics unit.
For comparison, the Snapdragon 855 chipset with similar parameters had a maximum processor core frequency of 2.84 GHz, but in the Snapdragon 855+ it was the same as in the new chip. Moreover, on Qualcomm’s official website, the Snapdragon 860 and Snapdragon 855+ chips are completely combined on one page.
The key differences between the Snapdragon 860 and the Snapdragon 855+ are support for up to 16 GB of RAM instead of 12 GB, as well as the ability to work with two displays with Full HD+ resolution at a frame rate of 90 Hz instead of 60 Hz. In all other respects, the chips are identical.
It is also worth noting that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 SoC includes the Snapdragon X24 modem, which supports operation only in fourth-generation networks, but if desired, smartphone manufacturers can additionally use the Snapdragon X50 modem with 5G support.
