Xiaomi has introduced an affordable Redmi 14C 5G smartphone in India, which, in addition to supporting fifth-generation networks, has an energy-efficient 4nm processor from Qualcomm and a large display with a frame rate of up to 120 Hz.
To be more precise, the new Redmi brand runs on the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, equipped with two Arm Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of up to 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.95 GHz, an Adreno 613 GPU and a Snapdragon X61 modem with 5G support and a downlink speed of up to 2.5 Gbps.
The processor works in conjunction with 4 or 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64 or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 flash drives. Moreover, the latter are expanded with microSD memory cards up to 1 TB using a separate slot.
The IPS display installed on the Redmi 14C 5G has become larger and faster – now it is a 6.88—inch panel with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, but its resolution is still only HD+.
The camera system has not undergone significant changes, it still has a 50-megapixel main and auxiliary on the back panel. The selfie camera has received a new 8-megapixel sensor, but video recording is limited to 1080p @ 30 frames per second for both cameras.
The Redmi 14C 5G model retains the standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and its single speaker is 50% louder than the previous model.
The device is available in three color options: Starlight Blue, which weighs 205 grams, as well as Stardust Purple and Stargaze Black, which are heavier at 212 grams. The difference is due to the “glass back panel design” in the latter two versions.
The Redmi 14C 5G comes with a 5,160 mAh battery, but charging is still limited to 18 watts, although a 33W charger is included. The housing has an IP52 protection class for basic splash protection.
The novelty out of the box runs the proprietary HyperOS firmware based on the Android 14 operating system and, according to the manufacturer, will receive software support for 2 years and security fixes for 4 years.
The new Redmi 14C 5G will appear on shelves in India on January 10 at a price of about $117, $130 and $140 for modifications with 4/64 GB, 4/128 GB and 6/128 GB memory sets, respectively.
