Qualcomm quietly introduced the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset with the internal label SM6475-AB. The new product will be used in affordable smartphones.
The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 has four performance-oriented Arm Cortex-A78 cores running up to 2.4GHz and a quartet of energy-efficiency-oriented Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.8GHz.
On the graphics side, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 single-chip system uses an Adreno 710 graphics processor. Along with LPDDR4X and LPDDR5 RAM support, this chipset also supports UFS 3.1 flash drives.
Introduced about a year ago, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 had four high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of up to 2.4 GHz, the same number of energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores with a frequency of 1.95 GHz and the Adreno 710 graphics controller
It turns out that the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 are very similar chipsets. However, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 supports a refresh rate of 144 Hz at Full HD+ resolution, while the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 does not.
Other than that, there are no other differences, and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 does not offer any new features. That is, Qualcomm has re-announced the same processor, but under a different trade name.
