It became known that the future Snapdragon 8 Elite processor of the second generation with the preliminary name Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will also be produced at TSMC factories – apparently, Qualcomm has no trust left in Samsung, which previously produced its top-end chips.
As specified, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset presented in the fall was for production using TSMC’s 3nm N3E process technology. In addition, Samsung also failed to reach an agreement with the customer on the release of the Snapdragon 8s Elite chip, which will enter the market in the first half of 2025.

Recall that Samsung Electronics has been trying to become the main processor manufacturer for Qualcomm for four years in a row – in 2021, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor debuted and almost all of them were produced at Samsung facilities up to a certain point, but then Qualcomm made claims about the quality of the chips and the next generations of Snapdragon chips are produced exclusively on the conveyors of Taiwan’s TSMC.
According to Korean media, in the case of the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processors of the second generation, Samsung was again bypassed by fortune and TSMC will receive these orders using the updated 3nm N3P process technology.
