As part of the “zero” day of Computex 2025, representatives of the American chipmaker Qualcomm announced that this year’s Snapdragon Summit 2025 event will be held from September 23 to 25, a month earlier than usual.
At this summit, where Qualcomm will modestly talk about its achievements and plans in the field of mobile electronics, the new flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite second-generation single-chip system, which is likely to have the commercial name Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, will be presented.
Recall that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, which has the internal marking SM8850, will be produced at the facilities of Taiwan’s TSMC using the third-generation N3P 3nm process technology.
The new Qualcomm platform will include proprietary Oryon processor cores – a pair of super cores with an operating frequency of up to 4.4 GHz and six high-performance ones, and the latest Adreno 840 controller will be responsible for graphics processing.
The first smartphones based on the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC are likely to be the top-end Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro smartphones (details), which will be joined a little later by flagships from other manufacturers, and then Xiaomi 16 Ultra and Redmi K90 Pro will catch up.
