The results of interesting research were shared by enthusiasts who decided to find out what the latest flagship single-chip Snapdragon 8 Elite system from the American chipmaker Qualcomm is capable of.
In particular, they immersed a Xiaomi 15 Pro smartphone (details) with a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip on board in cold water and tried to squeeze maximum performance out of the processor using the Geekbench test package.
However, even this “cooling” did not allow the chipset to overcome the 3,000 mark in the single-core test of the popular Geekbench benchmark 6. At the same time, in multi-core mode, the Snapdragon 8 Elite consumed about 25 watts of energy, which is comparable to the appetite of AMD hybrid processors used in portable game consoles.
However, with the usual use of devices running on the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform, hardly anyone will encounter such indecent power consumption, since current games and applications do not use even half of the capabilities of the multithreaded mode.
