In early January of this year, the first information appeared that Qualcomm engineers were testing the first samples of the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 single-chip system, whose core frequencies at that time reached an impressive 4 GHz.
However, over the past time, Qualcomm has done a good job in terms of optimizing the future flagship chipset, and according to an insider at Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 cores are now running at a record 4.37 GHz.
This is 1.07GHz more than last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 0.97 GHz faster than the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version (for Galaxy).
At the same time, Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek decided not to follow the path of increasing clock speeds, and current prototypes of the top-end Dimensity 9400 chip have cores operating at frequencies up to 3.66 GHz.

This is not such a significant increase compared to 3.25 and 3.4 GHz for last year’s Dimensity 9300 and Dimensity 9300+ chips, but according to rumors, the new Dimensity 9400 will have outstanding energy efficiency.
The source also talks about a “significant improvement in the energy efficiency of graphics controllers,” which should make smartphones run out more slowly in gaming applications.
The first smartphones based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 will be presented in October, and one of them will be devices of the flagship Xiaomi 15 family.
