TSMC has successfully conducted a trial production of chips using the TSMC N2 2nm process with a yield of about 60% of usable chips. A new report claims that TSMC achieved better-than-expected results during trial production at its facility in Baoshan, Hsinchu County, Taiwan.

After successful test production, TSMC is going to start mass production of 2nm chips at a factory in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, next year. Apple and Nvidia are expected to be among the first companies to purchase chips manufactured using TSMC’s N2 process technology.

Previous reports suggested that future iPhone 17 Pro models would be equipped with 2nm chips developed using TSMC’s advanced process technology, but the latest news claims that we will see the debut of a 2nm chip only in the iPhone 18 Pro in 2026.

According to rumors, chips manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process technology are likely to cost twice as much as chips manufactured using 4nm and 5nm processes, and according to preliminary data, their price will be $30,000 per plate.

By the way, Taiwanese contract semiconductor manufacturer TSMC is an industry leader and occupies more than 65% of the market. Its clients include AMD, Apple, Nvidia, Qualcomm, MediaTek and many other chipmakers.
