It became known that the Taiwanese contract semiconductor manufacturer TSMC, which is the de facto industry leader, has decided on the construction site of the new Fab 25 production site, where chips for 1-nm and 0.7-nm processes will be produced.
The future Fab 25, which was decided to be located in the southern part of the island, will include six workshops, three of which, built in the first place, will initially produce 1.4-nm chips, and three later completed buildings will begin production of 1-nm products.
If TSMC manages to master advanced technological processes more quickly, then the first three lines at the Fab 25 site will immediately start producing 1-nm chips, and the remaining three will be engaged in 0.7-nm technology.
By the way, TSMC factories are already operating in southern Taiwan, which ship 5nm and 3nm products to customers, but in the future they are also planned to be transferred to 1nm and 0.7nm technological processes.
