Chipmaker Unisoc, formerly known in the market as Spreadtrum, continues to expand its range of processors for smartphones and tablets from the budget segment and presented to the public a new solution in the form of the Unisoc T615 processor.
Predictably, the new Unisoc single-chip system does not shine with its specifications – the chip is manufactured using a rapidly aging 12nm process technology, includes a pair of Arn Cortex-A75 cores with a frequency of up to 1.8 GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores operating at 1.6 GHz, as well as Arm Mali-G57 MP1 graphics (850 MHz).
Compatible with 720p and 1080p screens, the Unisoc T615 chip supports a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz. LPDDR4X RAM reaches a frequency of 1866 MHz, which means more bandwidth. In addition, it supports UFS storage, providing best-in-class performance.
The Unisoc T615 also has a 4G LTE Cat-7 DL / Cat-13 UL modem, an IPS signal processor of an unknown model, a GPS receiver with support for all global navigation systems, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2 wireless modules, as well as an FM radio.
For the modest Unisoc T615 chipset, developers have announced support for LPDDR4X RAM, eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1 and UFS 2.2 flash drives, cameras with image sensors up to 108 MP, as well as Full HD displays with a frame rate of up to 60 Hz and HD+ at a frequency of up to 120 Hz. There is no neural unit working with AI in this SoC.
It is not yet known when the first devices built on the Unisoc T615 processor will appear on the shelves, but according to rumors, Xiaomi and Tecno are already interested in the novelty.
