The Recovery mode on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices is a special system recovery mode through which you can either install the Recovery ROM firmware or restore your smartphone to a working state if it does not boot or if there is some serious system failure.

There are two types of Recovery Mode:

  • The official recovery is pre—installed on all Xiaomi, Mi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones. It contains only basic functions. It can be downloaded from our website and we will talk about it further in the text.
  • Unofficial (also known as custom) is a recovery from third—party developers with advanced features for smartphone firmware, installing patches and modifications. It is often referred to as custom TWRP. To work with a cast, you need to have additional skills.

To work with a smartphone or tablet in Recovery Mode, you need to have a battery charge of at least 60%. If your smartphone runs out of battery during the upgrade process, you may lose all your data or even a brick.

The menu of the official stock Recovery Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco has a multi-level structure, which is navigated by volume buttons, and the power button is used to select the desired item.

How do I enter Recovery Mode?

  • Turn off your smartphone.
  • Press the power and volume up buttons simultaneously.
  • Hold them down until the Android logo appears on the screen.

The structure of the Recovery Menu and its translation into Russian:

  • Reboot — the reboot menu offers two options: Reboot to System (normal reboot of HyperOS, data is not deleted) and Back to Main Menu (return to main menu).
  • Wipe Data — used to reset the device to factory settings. All your files will be deleted from your phone: photos, videos, music, and apps. The Wipe All Data submenu (translates as “erase all data”) allows you to delete all data, and the Back to Main Menu returns to the home screen.
  • Connect with MI Assistant — it is used to connect the device to a PC to restore the operating system. You will need a USB cable, the Mi Flash Pro program installed on your PC, and the downloaded firmware file.
  • Save Mode is a simplified device startup mode, which we have described in detail here.
