The Chinese technology giant Xiaomi is preparing to release a major update HyperOS 2.3, the firmware of which will be based exclusively on Android 16, which will be an important milestone in the development of Xiaomi branded software.
That is, the upcoming HyperOS 2.3 builds will be available only for those Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices that are “eligible” to receive Android 16 according to Xiaomi’s update release policy and are compatible with the new version of Android.
The upcoming release of HyperOS 2.3 reflects Xiaomi’s commitment to providing advanced Android capabilities to all its users around the world.
Unlike previous HyperOS 2 updates, which provided numerous proprietary features, HyperOS 2.3 will primarily focus on seamlessly integrating the latest Android 16 features into the HyperOS ecosystem.

By the way, the corresponding HyperOS 2.3 firmware based on Android 16 is already being tested for Xiaomi 15. These are global, European and Chinese assemblies, which we discussed in detail in this article yesterday.
The official deployment of HyperOS 2.3 is expected to begin in July 2025, after the current testing phases are completed. Xiaomi usually takes a step-by-step approach to deployment, starting with flagship devices and then expanding to the mid-range and budget segments.
