It became known that Google is replacing Google Assistant with Gemini, an artificial intelligence-based assistant designed to improve productivity and interactivity, which, accordingly, will happen on Xiaomi mobile devices with HyperOS firmware on board.
This shift, driven by advances in generative artificial intelligence, aims to provide Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco users with a more efficient and adaptive assistant.
In the coming months, Google Assistant will no longer be available on most mobile devices, and tablets, cars, wearables, and smart home gadgets (speakers, TVs) will switch to Gemini by the end of this year.
The update followed positive feedback from users who have adopted Gemini’s updated features, including convenient music playback, timer settings, and lock screen control — the main Assistant functions are now supported by generative AI.
Since its launch, Gemini has expanded to over 40 languages in over 200 countries. Google is improving its functionality to match and exceed the core functions of Google Assistant.
“To continue our work to create the most useful assistant in the world, we have rethought the AI-based experience to make Gemini your AI-powered personal assistant. While our expectations of what an assistant can do are changing rapidly, the mission remains the same,” Google said in a blog post.
In addition to these basic functions, Gemini introduces AI-based features such as Gemini Live for interactive, multimodal conversations, and Deep Research for advanced information collection. These tools expand Gemini’s capabilities beyond traditional virtual assistants.
Google positions Gemini as an evolution of digital assistance, integrating generative AI to enhance the user experience across all devices. As the transition progresses, Google Assistant will continue to work on supported devices until Gemini is fully implemented.
