At the same time, Xiaomi‘s top manager modestly noted that the high performance of the Redmi K70 was very widely recognized, making it the best-selling smartphone in the price range from 2,000 yuan (~$278) to 3,000 yuan (~$417) in 2024.
Van Ten Thomas also hinted at the upcoming Redmi K80 series, calling it a “new champion” and clarifying that it is on its way, and who urgently needs a new flagship device, he recommended the Redmi K70 Ultra (announcement) powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor.
The Redmi K70 series, introduced in November 2023, initially included the Redmi K70E, Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro models, which were built on Dimensity 8300, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips, respectively.
Moreover, the older Redmi K70 Pro remained exclusive to the Chinese market, while the Redmi K70e and Redmi K70 were released outside China under the trade names Poco X6 Pro (review) and Poco F6 Pro (review).
As for the future Redmi K80 line, this time there will be no Redmi K80E model and at the initial stage it will consist of Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro devices, which will be based on single-chip systems from Qualcomm – Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite, respectively.
The exact release date of the Redmi K80 line has not yet been announced, but their official premiere is expected before the end of November. By the way, Xiaomi’s management has repeatedly said that the Redmi K80 series will receive higher price tags compared to its predecessors.
