Xiaomi added floating windows to its proprietary MIUI shell quite a long time ago, and predictably they moved to the new HyperOS system. At the same time, the functionality of floating windows has not changed, but some “chips” have been added.
In this article, we will look at how the floating windows function works in Xiaomi HyperOS and tell you how to enable or disable floating windows on Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones, which is often asked by owners of Chinese-made devices.
To open the application in a floating window, you need to press the navigation menu button (square), click on the thumbnail of the desired application and hold until four action icons appear next to it.
The third icon is the opening of this program in a floating window. Moreover, after launching the application in this mode, three dots will appear on the top of the window, when clicked, a menu will be available that allows you to:
- expand the app to full screen
- place it at the top or bottom of the screen
- close the app
In addition to the presented features, there is also a small functionality for changing it at the bottom of the floating window.:
- By pulling the strip in the central part, this application will open to the full screen.
- By pulling the corner of the window, you can resize it.
You can move a floating window by simply clicking on it and holding it to drag to the desired side of the screen, and by swiping it to the left or right side of the desktop, the window will collapse into a small icon that activates with one touch.
It should be noted here that some applications can be automatically launched in a floating window. For example, messengers do this after clicking on their activation button on a pop-up notification.
To prevent this from happening, the user can disable this feature. To do this, go to Settings – Advanced Settings – Floating Windows and deactivate the Smart Offer switch.
By the way, the same settings section shows in detail and clearly how to control floating windows on your Xiaomi, Redmi or Poco.
