As one of the top three brands in global smartphone shipments, Xiaomi has been producing devices with chipsets from Qualcomm, MediaTek, and even Unisoc (formerly Speedtrum) for a long time.
Earlier this year, it was already reported that Xiaomi and Unisoc have joined forces to jointly develop a 4nm chipset, and new data suggests that the first Xiaomi-branded chipset created as a result of this collaboration will be released in early 2025.
The news came from reliable online informant Yogesh Brar, who additionally shared some key information about the upcoming Xiaomi chip. It is reported that it will be manufactured using TSMC‘s 4nm N4P process technology and will receive a 5G modem developed by Unisoc.
It is also expected that this single-chip system will offer good performance at the level of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which was Qualcomm‘s flagship chip running on high-end devices in 2021 and 2022.
It is worth noting here that this is not the first time Xiaomi has tried its hand at developing chipsets – back in 2017, the company released the Mi 5c smartphone with the Surge S1 proprietary chipset, which was produced using a 28nm process technology and had eight Arm Cortex-A53 cores and Arm Mali-T860 graphics.
