Back in the summer of this year, information appeared that Xiaomi was preparing its own processor for smartphones – then it was said that it would be a 4nm chip created in collaboration with Unisoc, but as it turned out, this is a bit wrong.
Chinese media reported that Xiaomi specialists, together with Unisoc engineers, have completed the design of their own single-chip system for smartphones, which is designed to be produced using a 4nm process technology.
In fact, Xiaomi has developed a 3nm single-chip system, which has already been prepared for production and which is at the “tape-out” stage, indicating that the chip has reached the final stage before being shipped to factories.
In other words, Xiaomi has successfully completed the design phase, and the processor is now ready for production. The chip is expected to be manufactured using the N3E or more advanced N3P technology from the Taiwanese contract manufacturer TSMC.
Moreover, this was not told by some obscure insider, but by the chief economist of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economics and Information Technology at BRTV, the state television channel in China.
Unfortunately, the report does not provide details about the computing cores and graphics included in the chipset, but only mentions that it is a 3nm chip.
It is worth noting here that Xiaomi has been quite successful in developing its own chips for charging, battery management and image signal processing in its Surge G, Surge P and Surge C series. For example, Xiaomi 14 Ultra (review) uses Surge P2 and Surge G1 chips to improve charging efficiency and extend battery life.
By the way, network informants claim that the new Xiaomi processor, made using 3nm technology, will find its application in one of the models of the future line of Xiaomi 15S smartphones, but little is known about it yet.
