Xiaomi, along with other members of the Mobile Smart Terminal Ecological Alliance, formerly known as the Gold Label Alliance, have achieved great success in migrating applications to the 64-bit architecture. The record 99.6% adoption rate in the Xiaomi app store shows that the company is truly at the forefront.
Thus, Xiaomi has significantly reduced the number of incompatible applications, although more than 3,700 applications have not yet been adapted in the stores of this alliance, most of them are no longer offered for download, which guarantees minimal concern for users.
The importance of 64-bit architecture
Up until 2023, the transition to a 64-bit architecture improved the performance and security of mobile devices going forward, and the Arm architecture gradually abandoned instructions for 32-bit solutions.
At the same time, in the Android 15 operating system, Google developers decided to ban the installation and use of 32-bit applications on new devices starting in September 2024.
The transition is really important because 64-bit applications provide better resource management, faster processing, and overall improved device performance — all to facilitate the user experience.
