What is included in the February 2025 security fix?
1. Preventing leakage of activity tokens
- A vulnerability in which a malicious application can register an application as an organizer using a one-way call to a link in such a way that it starts with PID 0 (a highly privileged system process).
- This can allow ordinary programs to bypass security features and perform operations with high privileges.
2. Ensuring the security of the TransferTouchGesture API
- The fix fixes an issue where a malicious process can intercept the current touch gesture.
- Now blocking will make actions available only to the owner of the InputTransferToken and will not allow unauthorized access to gesture information.
- This is especially important for important security operations such as unlocking a device, using a banking app, and checking fingerprints.
3. libdm: Editing encryption keys in dm-crypt
- Improved security in dm-crypt, thanks to which confidential key information is not disclosed when executing GetTable.
- This enhances Android’s data encryption feature, reducing the risk of key leaks and unauthorized access.
4. Fixing the sound issue in Android Auto.
- Some users have previously experienced random audio output failures when connected to Android Auto.
- This update provides a more stable sound quality when listening to Android Auto in cars.
5. Fix for Bluetooth connectivity
- Some Bluetooth accessories sometimes did not connect due to firmware incompatibility.
- This update addresses these issues by improving compatibility with car audio systems, headsets, and other Bluetooth speakers.
When will the February 2025 security update be released?
Xiaomi’s February 2025 security update will start rolling out in the coming weeks – first for flagship smartphones (Xiaomi 15, Xiaomi 14, Redmi K80 series, etc.), and then for all supported smartphones.
