Well-known network informant Kacper Skrzypek delved into the source code of the latest HyperOS firmware and yesterday discovered code fragments suggesting that Xiaomi will implement a “chip performance control panel” in its proprietary shell.
This feature will allow owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco to adjust the clock frequency of the central and graphics processors, as well as change the voltage in a safe range. For users, this will be a new way to reduce power consumption or improve gameplay.
In addition, the mention of “large, medium, small, and GPU cores” in the code indicates that users will be able to fine-tune the performance of various core groups.
It is also said that the HyperOS system will receive built-in chipset protection mechanisms, including “frequency check” and “startup check”. That is, if configuring the CPU and GPU parameters leads to unstable system operation, the smartphone will automatically restore to its default settings.
For example, the code contains a notification “Default settings have been restored to ensure normal use” – that is, even if the operation to change CPU and GPU frequencies is performed incorrectly, the device will not fail.
Xiaomi has not yet revealed which models will support this feature, but it is assumed that for the first time it will be implemented in flagship models such asXiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Ultra, with the upcoming HyperOS 3 firmware based on Android 16.
