Xiaomi has just changed the rules of the game. The appearance of HyperOS 2 marked the “before” and “after”, and from now on, updates will work differently, in particular, in accordance with the new plan, called “1+3+8 “.
As such, Xiaomi will follow the monthly update plan of its Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices, very similar to that of Apple or Samsung, guaranteeing a better user experience and greater optimization.
The number “1” of the new plan “1+3+8 ” refers to the fact that there will be at least one major update per year, i.e. HyperOS 2, HyperOS 3, HyperOS 4 and so on.
The number “3” refers to the number of annual updates classified as updates for Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco with new features that arrive “over the air” (OTA). They will be distributed gradually throughout the year, adding new features and improvements. These updates will be called HyperOS 2.0.0, HyperOS 2.0.101, HyperOS 2.0.202, HyperOS 2.0.303 and so on.

Finally, the number “8” refers to the number of minimum updates that will be released during the year to eliminate possible bugs or, if there are none, to implement each new Android security patch. Its main goal will be to increase the stability of the system, and its nomenclature will be HyperOS 2.0.1, HyperOS 2.0.2, HyperOS 2.0.3, and so on.
With this new update policy, Xiaomi plans to improve the level of its proprietary HyperOS system and especially the usability of not only its smartphones, but also virtually all of its devices.
