Owners of a number of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones have encountered an interesting problem after recent updates to HyperOS 2 and HyperOS 2.1 – after using applications in landscape orientation, the installed wallpaper is displayed only half and stretched.
Moreover, this error is reported by users of both Chinese and global versions of Xiaomi devices using both static and dynamic AI-based wallpapers.
This error manifests itself in the following scenarios:
- When exiting games that use landscape/horizontal orientation.
- When watching videos in fullscreen mode with landscape orientation
- When switching between apps and the home screen frequently.
Dynamic AI wallpapers are not displayed at all, and static ones are shown only on half of the screen in the form of stretched graphics with a black area.
However, Xiaomi developers have responded quite promptly to such complaints and will release appropriate HyperOS 2 updates in the very near future, which will include the following:
- Resource management has been solved when changing the screen orientation.
- The rendering pipeline for dynamic AI wallpapers has been improved.
- Improved memory allocation for wallpapers when changing the screen orientation.
Moreover, the same updates will offer Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco users additional improvements.:
- Smooth animated transitions between applications.
- Reducing the amount of memory used for user interface components.
- Improved response to gesture navigation.
- Improving the overall stability of the system
Collectively, all of these changes in the upcoming HyperOS 2 builds provide a more user-friendly interface, especially for those who regularly switch between different applications and screen orientations.
