Google is already releasing the first builds of Android 16 for developers, and many manufacturers have begun testing the new OS version for their devices. Of course, Xiaomi did not stand aside either.
Back in mid-January of this year, we talked about which Xiaomi devices were the first to try on Android 16 (details), but today the first internal builds of HyperOS 2 on Android 16 were released, and that list turned out to be not entirely accurate.
To be more precise, we are talking about the following internal beta firmware HyperOS 2 based on the Android 16 operating system.:
- OS2.0.250220.1.WOCCNXM.PRE for Xiaomi 15
- OS2.0.250220.1.WOBCNXM.PRE for Xiaomi 15 Pro
- OS2.0.250220.1.WOYCNXM.PRE for Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro
These firmware are already being actively tested by Xiaomi developers and, most likely, will be constantly updated, and later the first Android 16-based firmware for other models will be released.
It is worth noting here that for Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco devices, the future Android 16 OS will become the basis for the proprietary HyperOS 3 firmware, and those manufacturer’s models that will receive it in the near future are named in this material.
The early testing of Android 16 by Xiaomi is a reflection of the company’s efforts to provide timely updates for its premium devices.
